The Dawson College library is here to serve the academic needs of students and teachers, and we need your help to make strong choices about the library’s collections.
To that end, we urge you to use our online forms to request new library materials or schedule an in-class library instruction session. Please feel free to contact us any time for more information about our services, or to discuss matters relating to our collections.

Research & Professional Development
Research
Faculty members who want to conduct research at Dawson can access a range of supports from the Office of Academic Development. For examples of past research conducted by Dawson faculty, check out the College’s archive of Annual Research Reports.[SUSPENDED due to COVID-19: Supports to CEGEP faculty researchers include access to the PBUQ Card (formerly known as a CREPUQ or BCI Card), which grants borrowing privileges to the cardholder at participating university libraries (ARC Press Release, 2013).]
Professional Development
Our local collection includes a number of titles purchased (previously) by the Office of Academic Development (OAD), but the library will also buy “professional development” materials at the direct request of faculty members. Requests tied to the work of Dawson’s various Communities of Practice are most welcome.Beyond our own print and electronic resources, we encourage faculty members to explore the offerings of the following libraries:
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) By subscribing, any resident of Quebec can access a wealth of subscription-based Online Resources. |
Centre de documentation collégiale (CDC) A free CDC account is available to any member of the college network, and will give you access to their faculty-focused collections of e-books, scientific articles, reports, theses, conference and symposium proceedings: |
Concordia University Concordia’s libraries have always granted “guest” access to in-person visitors, and an in-person visit is the only way for CEGEP faculty members to access the University’s electronic resources. If you planning a visit, we encourage you to ask a librarian to sign a Letter of Introduction for you as a CEGEP faculty member. With some of the library’s policies under review, please consult their Policies & Code of Conduct page for information relating to “Extramural borrowers.” |
McGill University Alumni Faculty from Quebec Universities & CEGEPs |
Interlibrary Loans If the library doesn’t have what you’re looking for, we may be able to obtain materials from another library. Delivery times vary and there are frequently costs associated with these transactions, that must be absorbed by the borrower or his/her department. For more information, please email ill@dawsoncollege.qc.ca, or contact Anne Marie Marko at extension 1796. |
If you would like an individual orientation on how to use/access these resources, please don’t hesitate to Ask a Librarian. For access to information beyond our collections, please see the links below.
