Borrowing
- Books taken outside of the Library will be subject to a 24-hour quarantine period upon return.
- Books consulted within the Library will have their covers sanitized and be available for immediate re-circulation – e.g., Reserves and Reference books.
Returns
All books should be returned through the
external book drop. The slot is in the door to the right of the main entrance, at the top of the ramp.
Curbside Pickup
Students, faculty and staff may
select books from the General Collection and have them prepared for pickup inside the Library.
- Submit your request at least 24 hours in advance of your pickup time.
- A staff member will gather your books and check them out to your account.
- Collect your books at the “Sign In” desk, just inside the Library entrance.
Books that are not collected within two days of the pickup date will be checked in and re-shelved.
Ask a Librarian
Messages sent through
Ask a Librarian are sent to a central mailbox that is continually monitored during opening hours. Messages are answered at the earliest opportunity, and this option is best when you have simple questions or requests.
Please note that any messages received outside of Library hours will be answered on the following business day.
Off Site
“Virtual” Reference
The Reference Librarians are available to provide remote assistance to students and faculty members during the following hours:
Monday – Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
If you need help to develop a research topic, search for sources, or navigate the research process, please
request an appointment to meet with a Librarian online or by phone.
Library Instruction
The Librarians are available to provide online, synchronous Library Instruction Sessions to your class.
To arrange a session, please complete our
instruction request form.
Given these exceptional circumstances, we ask that you please
make an appointment to meet with your Librarian, to discuss the details of your session(s).
On Site
In-Person Reference
There will be one Reference Librarian on site during opening hours.
To ensure availability, please consider requesting
an appointment: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
If these hours do not meet demand, the schedule will be revised.
Library Instruction
Unless otherwise agreed with a Librarian, there will be no Library Instruction Sessions provided on campus.
Study Spaces
The Library will not be open for general study or leisure.
Work spaces will only be provided for those who need a place to attend online classes.
Computers
Networked computers are available for students who need to attend an online class, and have not brought a personal computer to campus.
Please note that the Library’s computers do not have webcams installed, so participants will not be visible to teachers and classmates.
Printing/Photocopying
- One printer (5th floor) is available to library visitors.
- Two photocopiers will be accessible – one can receive/process print jobs in colour.
- Print jobs can be sent from networked computers, or wirelessly from laptops and personal devices: https://dc2.dawsoncollege.qc.ca.
Print Balance Station
The Library’s print balance charging station is not available this semester. To refill your print account, locate the “Print Balance Account” link inside the
MyDawson portal. A credit card is required; and a minimum charge of $5.00 applies.
A large proportion of the library’s resources – including
BOOKS,
FILMS, and
REFERENCE materials – are accessible electronically.
